Google's Data Center Navy: Marketing Hoax or a green win?

Google just found another green use of the greenbacks they have been stashing over in their war chest. They want to position their data centers on a barge. They want this barge to be indepedent in power generation so they could save power needs for keeping the servers cool. This is the kind of out of the box thinking that made google what it is.

This illustrates how much mileage a new idea can get to a company:

1. Lot of publicity in our going green minds

2. Some use for out of fashion barges

3. Some more free ocean surfing and beach time for google employees

4. Free rent and tax

5. To some extent, power savings, but this is not exactly about that.
